Halo

Orange Clouds

The god of the sun and fire. They are often depicted as a being wreathed in light and fire, in charge of protecting and carrying the sun across the sky. They carry Solaris, a celestial ax forged in the sun itself, and Burn, an amulet capable of containing and carrying the sun safely.

Uniquely, the Greyscale depiction of Halo as a massive flaming golden dragon is the most common. The patron of those that wish to spread light, and those that wish to wield cleansing fire. Originally believed by some to be a Golden Greatwyrm, Halo is widely accepted to be the patron of dragons and draconic humanoids everywhere.

Divine Authorities

  • Domains: Light, Strength

  • Oaths: Glory, Cleansing

  • Pacts: Celestial

  • Ways: Ascendant Dragon, Sun Soul

Divine Armaments

  • Solaris. Ax of Halo. It is said that it was made out of fire and gold taken from the realm of ideals and forged in the sun itself.

  • Burn. Amulet of Halo. It is the container that Halo uses to carry the sun across the sky in most mythologies.

Faiths and Followers of Halo

  • Libitina. Due to Halo’s position as the supreme deity of Greyscale, their ancient enemies, Halo is generally unpopular, viewed in a similar light to Sylph, as an antagonistic god dragon that visits obstacles against the good knight paladins. However, this view is not uniform in Libitina, as House Renna claims Halo as their patron, though notably without any draconic aspects.

  • Diaspora. Maybe not surprisingly, the god of sun and fire is not particularly popular in the Diaspora, who spend most of their time living in harsh desert conditions. Due to this, it seems it was quite easy for Libitina’s cultural depiction of Halo as an antagonistic force to spread to a majority of the Diaspora, though there are still some staunch adherents, citing the far more benevolent views of Greyscale.

  • Refuge. Due to Halo’s nature, they are viewed widely to be an aid of Ozmaldis/Ozmadin. Ozmaldis rules the entire sky, and so the sun, as part of it, must indeed serve him. Many Dwarves and Gnomes will also be quick to point out fire as a necessary part of the forging process, and so it is also believed that Halo serves as an assistant in Ozmadin’s forge. Refuge’s most popular depiction of Halo paints them as a dwarf with a flaming sun like beard, and phoenix like traits.

  • Feyborn City States. Halo is beloved by the Sun Elves, and is often depicted as one of them, with some believing Halo to be their progenitor.

  • Greyscale. Halo is believed to be one of the two supreme gods of Greyscale, being depicted as a massive golden or red Great Wyrm, whose scales shine like the sun itself. The main leader of greyscale, Saint Varlion the Shining, is one of the few dragon clerics in reality, and believed to be an avatar of Halo himself.

  • The Red Isles. Halo is believed to be one of the two supreme gods of Greyscale, being depicted as a golden tiefling whose horns bear aloft the sun, though the dragon depiction is also common.

Divine Realm: The River of Light. The River of Light is a divine stream of golden positive energy that stretches across the Realm of the Highest. Supposedly, it is Halo sailing/swimming along this river that makes the sun rise and set. Souls dedicated to Halo live forever in utopian paradises along the river, and spend their time swimming in the river of light and basking in Halo’s glow.

Halo Court

  • Fulminis (Fire Primordial). In the Realm of Ideals, the concept of fire is ruled over by Fulminis, an ancient fire primordial. Fulminis has served in Halo’s celestial Court since it was formed, and is Halo’s foremost advisor, and often is invited to the Realm of the Highest by Halo.

  • Saint Varlion the Shining. An ancient gold dragon who became the high priest and aspect of Halo. Now, Varlion sits as the head of the Draconic Council that rules over Greyscale, and guides his children from the top of Mt. Sunfel above Fengleam.
