Sylph

Orange Clouds

The god of Nature, Beauty, and Passion. Synonymous with the wild nature of things, whether it be wild emotions or the wild itself. They appear as a beautiful, sensuous figure, often marked with aspects of the fey wild, particularly moth or butterfly wings. Sylph is also recognized as a patron of bards, and worshiped by many as the god of music as well. The followers of Sylph often recite songs and legends of how Sylph came to their divinity. Originally they say, Sylph was a minor archfey who worked in service to the pantheon of elvish gods that existed before. Through their trickery, ambition, and beauty they managed to survive the Divine Culling and claim the recently fallen elvish pantheon’s divinity, and domains. To this day Sylph’s followers stress the importance and value of emulating Sylph’s ambition, trickery, and passion.

Faiths and Followers of Sylph

  • Libitina. Not a particularly loved deity in Libitina, as many of Sylph’s aspects are viewed negatively by the Libitina culture. Sylph is still worshiped as the patron of bards in Libitina, who are some of the few people that still view Sylph as a benevolent deity. Many legends of Sylph in Libitina paint them as a chaotic archfey who leads knights astray, and they have become a stock antagonist (though not outright villain) of many church myths and legends.

  • Diaspora. Sylph is considered an important divinity in the Diaspora. While much of their aspects as a fey creature have vanished, Sylph’s position as a deity of nature and the wilderness are extremely valued by the desert bound society, who pray to Sylph to restore the Orchard to it’s verdant state. Mostly depicted as a Druidic and musical figure who creates oases for the Diaspora through song.

  • Refuge. Sylph’s nature deity aspects have all but vanished inside the magitech dependent society of Refuge. However, many gnomes and Kenku worship Sylph as a trickster god and view them as an inspiring prankster. Additionally, the legends of Sylph’s ambition and desire to be more are viewed by many of the dwarves and gnomes as inspirational, reminding them of their ancestor’s ambitions to escape the Underdark.

  • Feyborn City States. Sylph is worshiped as the supreme deity inside the Feyborn City states, and is viewed as the Sky mother/father of the Pantheon inside their walls. Worshiped by nearly the entire population in one form or another due to their massive popularity as a former Archfey, nature and love god. Massive statues of Sylph often adorn the city walls.

  • Greyscale. Sylph is depicted as a massive faerie dragon, and is considered to be the creator of the faerie dragons, as well as the patron of many nature and trickery loving dragon species and drakes.

  • The Red Isles. Sylph’s archfey aspects have once again seemingly vanished. Sylph is once again worshiped largely as a druidic figure representing the massive forests of their land, and is beloved by much of the Beastfolk.

Divine Realm: The Forever Forest. An endless, perfect enchanted forest, made of the best parts of the Highest and the Fey. This is the promised resting place for followers of Sylph, as well as a reward for the fey that served Sylph best. An emerald paradise full of crystal springs, peaceful meadows, and endless trees.
