Enoch

The young god of death and judgment. They often appear as a young, pale child, and are recognized by their black amulet and scythe. Their sacred animals are black cats and ravens, who are believed to be their messengers and servants on the material plane. Enoch was created by Mariella in 450 NC, shortly after the previous god of death succumbed to their wounds. As they died, the knowledge of their name vanished with their divine influence, leaving their clerics and paladins without their powers and blessings. Overnight, statues and temples dedicated to the old god eroded, and even the most devoted priests began to struggle to remember their old patron. Souls that passed on began to gather, unjudged and unsorted for the most part, save for the lucky few that were chosen by their divine patrons. In response to this, Mariella, the divinity of chaos and destruction gave birth to the first new god of this era. Enoch was born outside of the Highest, into the cold of the Realm of Death. Now they serve as the judge and protector of the souls of the dead.

Faiths and Followers of Enoch
-
Libitina. While the god of death is unpopular, everyone must acknowledge them eventually. Enoch commands a very small but necessary contingent of followers. Most followers of Enoch serve as morticians and coroners, and most funeral homes and graveyards will contain a small shrine to Enoch, though you would be hard pressed to find any outside of such places.
-
Diaspora. Due to the blight of undead that plagues the Orchard desert, Enoch is a relevant deity, and most herds of the Orchard Diaspora do their best to have a follower of Enoch with them, so that they have someone to weave specific protections against such things. Despite this, besides those dedicated priests to Enoch, there is little following outside of those Grave Clerics. In many herds, such positions are familial, and handed down the generations.
-
Refuge. Little mention of Enoch is to be found inside Refuge, outside of the Kenku community. While most in Refuge believe when you die you go to your ancestors or are received by Ozmaldis, the Kenku have taken Enoch as a personal patron, and refer to them as ‘The Little Blackbird’, simultaneously viewed as a little sibling and protective figure.
-
Feyborn City States. Due to the long lived nature of most of the Feyborn inhabitants, and the fey nature of them meaning that they have a unique relationship with death, there are practically no worshippers or followers of Enoch. However, the exception to this is the Shadar Kai, the contingent of the elves/fey that resides in the Realm of Shadow and the Realm of Death, these beings seem to almost exclusively worship Enoch, with many high priests claiming to have been present at their birth.
-
Greyscale. While most pantheonic temples, funeral homes, and graveyards contain shrines built to Enoch, it is rare to find any other temples or large groups of followers. Inside Greyscale, the aspect of Enoch being surrounded by black cats and ravens has largely vanished, being replaced with depictions of Enoch as a shadow black wyrmling or shadow serpent. Additionally, there is a small contingent of Enoch worshipers that travel about, working towards the elimination of Dracoliches and the processes to create them.
-
The Red Isles. The Tabaxi of the Red Isles have a similar relationship to Enoch as the Kenku, taking Enoch as their species’ patron. Much of the shrines to Enoch built around the Isles can be attributed to them, and also serve coronary functions, both for the inhabitants of the Red Isles, but also the fiends they slay, so that they can research their weaknesses and anatomy.
Divine Realm: The Plane of Death. Enoch is unique in the sense that they are the only deity that does not have a section of the Highest dedicated to them and their chosen. Instead, the entire Plane of the Realm of Death is considered their divine realm. Those that dedicated their lives to Enoch can expect their afterlife to be serene blackness, or to serve eternally in Enoch’s dark palace as their aid.
